Winding Down with Naomi

Hmm...what is this all about, really? It's me jotting down ideas about things that go on in my life, and some occassional pictures of things I've seen and done.

Stealth Snow Removal (At it's best!?!)

It's interesting what one sees as one walks from the car to work. (Mind you, it helps if you're walking further than the parking lot across the street!)

Today, the day after a BIG snowfall here, I saw some rather stealthy snow removal action.

First, a man was pushing snow from his driveway to the edge of the ploughed street, about 5 meters from the end of his driveway. No one will notice that extra bit of snow, right?

Next, slightly sneakier, was the man shoveling his interlocking brick driveway. The interesting part was, there was no snowbank visible at the edge of the driveway. How was this possible? Well, I happened to see him as he flipped the snow over a fence dividing his driveway from the neighbour's lawn. Was there a wind around to create such a drift????

Last, but certainly not least. I'm sure you've seen it. It happens in many big cities. The loader- bucket overflowing with snow. The strange bit was it was happily trucking it up a institution's driveway to who knows where?! Not the big dump truck that was sitting on the drive!

What stealth snow removal have you participated in/seen??

the city plough dumping it at the end of a dead end street--but right in front of 3 people's driveways AND in front of a regularly used laneway, in a big pile so many people get stuck--not a good idea! I'm sure the city got a lot of calls!

Snow...what is that? The only snow here does not need to be removed as we only have a very light dusting. Can you send some this way???

Snow- it's white, often fluffy, and fun to play in. (Not fun to have to remove from one's car or driveway- see post!)

I'd send you some if I could.

Poor effie...did you get blocked in at all?
