Winding Down with Naomi

Hmm...what is this all about, really? It's me jotting down ideas about things that go on in my life, and some occassional pictures of things I've seen and done.

Happy Valentines Day! Blessed Transfiguration Day

Hi!

Just wanted to share some love with everyone. Happy Birthday Laura and Amy!

No, I don't have my very own Valentine- but I know I'm loved:

John 15:10-13 (ESV)
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.
11These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

A song about love, and fitting for the upcoming Lenten season.

My Song Is Love Unknown
Samuel Crossman, (as from LSB 430)

My song is love unknown,
My Savior’s love to me;
Love to the loveless shown,
That they might lovely be.
O who am I
That for my sake
My Lord should take
Frail flesh and die?

He came from His blest throne
Salvation to bestow;
But men made strange, and none
The longed-for Christ would know.
But, oh, my friend,
My friend indeed,
Who at my need
His life did spend!

Some-times they strew His way
And His sweet praises sing;
Resounding all the day
Hosannas to their King.
Then “Crucify!”
Is all their breath,
And for His death
They thirst and cry.

Why, what hath my Lord done?
What makes this rage and spite?
He made the lame to run,
He gave the blind their sight.
Sweet injuries!
Yet they at these
Themselves displease
And ’gainst Him rise.

They rise and needs will have
My dear Lord made away;
A murderer they save,
The Prince of Life they slay.
Yet cheerful He
To suffering goes
That He His foes
From thence might free.

In life no house, no home
My Lord on earth might have;
In death no friendly tomb
But what a stranger gave.
What may I say?
Heav’n was His home
But mine the tomb
Wherein He lay.

Here might I stay and sing,
No story so divine!
Never was love, dear King,
Never was grief like Thine.
This is my Friend,
In Whose sweet praise
I all my days could gladly spend!

You know you're Canadian when...

Finish this phrase as you see fit!

You know you're Canadian when...

Today's answer for me, is: you have acclimatized so well to winter that you find -7 comfortable, warm even, thinking the weather is great that day.

(True story- today, I managed to end up out of doors as it was getting near dark, with my mittens inaccessible, and found that I was quite comfortable, indeed, had I not needed to get inside for other reasons, I would have likely gone for a stroll.)
