Winding Down with Naomi

Hmm...what is this all about, really? It's me jotting down ideas about things that go on in my life, and some occassional pictures of things I've seen and done.

Hanging on

It's been a fun week. Many things going on. Fun stuff happening here and there. I thought you might be interested in a few of those goings on, so here you go!

Last Sunday was a communion Sunday. I sat with my normal pew partners, Susan and her two girls and we made our way up to the communion rail, to participate with the Saints in the feast of the Lamb (Christ's body and blood through, with and under the bread and wine). As we moved up toward the rail, I noticed there wasn't going to be enough room. (Not so, at God's table, there's always room!) I snatched up Susan's older daughter and put her directly in front of me, leaving me about an inch/by a foot wide on which to kneel. I held on so tight to the rail! And no amount of squirming or muscle complaints was going to remove me from my place. This made me think a little...and I'm so glad my salvation isn't dependent on me grasping, and attempting to hang on on my own! Praise God for all He does!

More stories:
On Monday I was working and was offered a new type of fruit as a snack. I was given a prickly pear. I was warned that it must be peeled, the prickles rather bad if you don't watch out, the fruit is a bright purple and the seeds, edible. I brought it home in my bag and set out to eat is as my dessert. I also noticed my hands had some prickles in the, tiny, 2-3mm long almost invisible prickles, that were not so easy to find/pull out. My hands weren't so happy! I peeled it, thinking I had gone deep enough, but I hadn't. I wasn't easy peeling and not so purple looking. I tried again. This time, I found a good end point, the peel came off easily and bright purple fruit was found. I gave a slice to Fiona and then munched the rest myself. Not terribly flavourful, very high water content(reminiscent of watermelon), hard to chew round dark seeds...interesting!
The prickles-- they hung on and hung on! I found a few of them when rooting around my bag, and there is one nasty on sitting in the base of my index finger. I can't see it, but I know it's there!! (Mine looked like the top row- when peeled)

Yesterday I had to drive across town for work. I picked up a hitchhiker. (Not on purpose, it was kind of forced on me). The hitchhicker- a ladybug. It held onto my windshield all the way from my place, on the highway and to my parking spot...hope I brought it to its destination! Not the safest way for them to travel!

That's all the hanging on for the week...How/to what are you hanging in/on?

So they say...

That I should blog more frequently.

It's likely true...not that there are many individuals out there who thrive on/require posts from me...but I will attempt a post for anyone who'd like it.

I've come to the conclusion that my brain took it's own holiday- though my body wasn't allowed to have a summer holiday this year. I'm now feeling a little more like studying/reading and remembering stuff...something that hasn't happened in a while. (Not that I'm studying at the moment, though I ought to be!)

Life keeps moving on...and on...and on....
I can't believe all the running/places I'll be in the next little while...I may have to blog more frequently just so people will know "where in the world is Naomi K?!"

Oh...well...here's something of a hint of photos I've yet to play with...hope you enjoy!

That's likely it for tonight...need to get on with my studying/knitting...

Fun, in and around town.

Ah, the joys of having to drive to work. Such fun. I'm glad it only happens infrequently, and that I get to walk to work more often than not!

Yesterday as I was driving home, I happened to drive near a rather famous person's house (think Sussex dr) and noticed a bunch of bored looking videographers/journalists etc. It was hot out too, and I couldn't help but wonder whether I could ever do a job like that...just waiting around for something to happen. (It was a different crew today- these ones were the big trucks...made me switch radio stations to try to hear if anything was up...but so far, nothing!)

I also seemed very, very good at hitting red lights today. (And stopping for them!)

I've been getting the paper a little more, recently. I guess whoever is putting the paper together knows what they're doing, cause the headlines are what keep catching me!

I haven't really been doing any photo work, as they just keep piling up- but I did do this one (from a couple weekends ago) and thought you might enjoy a smile.

I'm sure there was more I wanted to chat about...but it eludes me.
More another time, perhaps!

What would your headline of the day read?

Taking the weekend off

That's right. No running. *yet*

I haven't decided what will happen tomorrow...wait a second, I haven't decided what I WANT to happen tomorrow...with traveling possibilities in and around the Ottawa area.

I also may yet today, play some games or garden, read, you know stuff like that, but this seems a BIG change in way of relaxation to the last couple of weekends.

I'm not trying to say it was stressful, visiting all sorts of fun people, but maybe driving 1400km one weekend and 1200 the next got to me. I have yet to "do up" the pictures. This means this will be a photo-free post.

Now, on to something completely different.

Yesterday while on my way to "work" I was walking and saw a friend. As I was in a hurry, so as not to be late, I wasn't able to stop and say hello, though I did wave. (Don't think he saw me, or did you A.C.?) Well. I made it to "work" on time, but things weren't ready to start happening, so I was shooed away for 10 minutes. I thought to myself: "perfect! now I can go and have a chat with A.C. if he's still there!". I walked quickly back the way I came. The seat was empty. I honestly felt my face fall, my body droop. I turned around and walked back again. Stopped at the cafeteria for "coffee". As I was leaving, I saw another friend I haven't seen or chatted with in a while. I perked up. He didn't see me. I sadly went on my way.

The day did perk up, however. It was a good morning and I had the afternoon off. Yup- it's looking like a WHOLE weekend of relaxing, not doing too much. I think I needed it.

Hugs to you all. I'm off to help with dinner...maybe play with some photos.
