Winding Down with Naomi

Hmm...what is this all about, really? It's me jotting down ideas about things that go on in my life, and some occassional pictures of things I've seen and done.

Ta Da! Pictures!

Introducing....Atreyu!! My new fun car!!
Here he is sitting in the driveway after I drove him home from the dealership.

Next picture- a friend thought I needed a picture of me by the car!

This weekend I'm off to an EDLYA and youth retreat. I'm looking forward to it, and I will be doing the drive all by myself. Atreyu and I are getting good at doing these long distance trips together. I'm hoping to borrow some CDs so I'll have Fiddler on the Roof and some other musicals/sing-alongables for the ride!!

I must get going...Things to do before I head out tonight, sprucing up Finnegan as part of them, not to mention finishing laundry. (I'm off to visit Terra before she heads home for the summer!)

More pictures another day--I don't want to swamp you all at once!

Toodles!

Ducks like Rain

Yup, they do. It's wet, raining, slightly cold, and it smells of squishy earthworms.

Peter update:
Today- leaving Winkler--going to Winnipeg and catching the train East tomorrow.
He is sad to say- he slept through all of Saskachewan, but Manitobans have assured him that Manitoba is much the same, but with fewer hills and more trees. (We were once told that someone counted all 7 of the Saskachewan trees).
He has been busy galavanting around Manitoba for almost a week and took some pictures of windmills--the big ones, not the Don Quixote kind. He's also been taking photos of lake Manitoba, a cathedral, and artwork. He is recognizable as a photographer when he walks into photography stores.

That's all for today! I need a new pair of socks, or a least a dry pair! What colour of socks are you wearing?(Or are you wearing socks?!)

I saw them!

HI!

I just thought I'd let you know--those who follow along well with my sister Effie's blog and mine, will have heard bits and pieces about the twins born rather premature last year. Well, I was so tired on Monday that I forgot all about my morning travels (prior to the turkey) when with mom I spotted a red fox--but that's another story! I went to my grandparents for a short visit in order to meet my newest cousins! They are adorable, sweet and growing well!! I was told that they are both over the 15lb mark--though there is still a difference in weight of about a lb.

Hugs to those two sweet girls. Hellos to everyone else!!

Question for you

Why did the TURKEY cross the road?

No, really, I want to know. He took his sweet time. Odd thing was, that at first sight it looked more like there was a peacock crossing the road--I half expected it to unfurl its tail feathers for me and Andrew (uni student from home) as we set off for our long trip to Ottawa. Let me know why you think this silly turkey crossed the road. (Those familiar with home-- I was near the firestation.)

Wildlife abounded--but not onto the road, after the turkey incident...including a blue heron and 4 deer.

I'm sleepy.
Update: Peter is ignoring the badlands and should be on a train for Winnipeg.
Going to bed. Sleep sweet all!

Waiting

HI!

This is just a short blog to let everyone know I'm still around. (Survived the exam on Thursday, had a good drive home!)

Update: Peter has made it to Edmonton--and is spending the weekend with Bec. Sounds like they are having fun! Any magpies?!

I'm waiting...for Easter. See Kelly's blog, Effie's world-poems etc for more info on the waiting of the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter.

I won't see you til next week--so HAPPY EASTER!

(Read this Sunday or afterward!!)

Fun songs ...for DANCING!

You've got to get up every morning
With a smile on your face
And show the world
All the love in your heart
Then people gonna treat you better
You're gonna find, yes you will
That you're beautiful
As you feel
Beautiful by Carole King This one just picks me up everytime I hear it...it also gets stuck quite firmly in my head!!

Another fun song is Elevation by U2. Everytime I hear it, I can see my little cousins from Timmins dancing and bopping around. (It certainly lightens the mood!)

Oooh-ooh...oooh-ooh-who....oooh-ooh...
High, higher than the sun...

such fun...*bouncing Naomi*....

Yesterday I took some time off of studying and had some GREAT winding down time watching Singing in the Rain, and also Easter Parade--which was on rather late, which meant I slept in today...another good winding down thing to do! The two movies (both of which I only saw parts of yesterday) had some great dancing and songs. I didn't know that "Stepping out with my baby" was in Easter Parade...but now I do! Seeing people dance and sing makes me want to do some! Hehe!

My brother made it safely across the country for the first leg of his trip. I hope that the weather is behaving so he gets to enjoy some spring out in BC!

Spring! Please come back

So we were all enjoying the smells, sounds, muckiness of spring around here. We even had a pre-summer day on Friday around here. Then it happened. We got snow yesterday. It snowed a lot of the day. (It didn't amount to much, and by the time I actually was able to go home around 7:30 pm it had all melted- save the stuff hiding in very secluded/shaded areas). Then this morning: -5 C and the longjohns came back out. It felt nice to be warm on the walk to school!! (I can tell that my hair is longer now, I don't mind the walk without a hat at that temperature now...so that must mean it's getting long.)
Peter is off on his trip soon! I hope he has great opportunities and experiences on/beside the tracks/roads!
Class is about to start- I should go! I'm learning about hearing aids and cochlear implants soon. (Got to see some of them yesterday--very interesting stuff!!)
