Winding Down with Naomi

Hmm...what is this all about, really? It's me jotting down ideas about things that go on in my life, and some occassional pictures of things I've seen and done.

This, that and a fluffy thing

Hi!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I had a great day! I'm older, but I barely felt it, so it's ok!

Last week, while driving home, I got to see something that was rather neat. It was twilight time, (everything turns blue), still light enough for me to see beyond the scope of the headlights, but not by much. I was driving alongside Georgian Bay and happened to notice that the sky was exactly the same colour as the bay, and that the bay was very calm. It looked as though there WAS no bay, but that I was driving alongside the edge of the world.

Another fun thing... This morning I woke up to classical music. (This is nothing new, I've got my radio set that way). I noticed that I was sleeping on the pillow on the side of the bed I don't normally sleep on, but recalled trying to find a cool bit of pillow, on which to rest my head. Then I rolled over to the side of the bed I usually climb out on, and my head landed on something fuzzy. Yes, fuzzy. I don't sleep with stuffed animals anymore. We have no furry pets in the house...what could it be?
It was a duck. (Or rather, a big fuzzy head of a duck, almost puppet-like, in that you can put your hand in the back and make the beak move. Only thing is, when you move the beak, it quacks, and if you do it right it quacks a tune). NOT what I was expecting to find on my bed...but it must have fallen from it's home, on top of the headboard. I'm glad I didn't wake myself with the sound of quacking.

Life is going well. I'm in my last week at home for a while (likely a LONG while). I'm off to Chatham next. You may remember, I was there last year too. I hope the road I live on this year isn't nearly so muddy or holey!

Drop me a note, let me know what's up. I miss you!

Home...where the music's playing

Home, where the internet's working
Home, where the parents dwell...silently for me...

Wait, that doesn't all work. But Go! Simon and Garfunkle!

(And that just came out of nowhere!)

I'm home. Or could you tell? I'm enjoying being home. It's been a busy week. I don't know what I was thinking, that this might be a relaxing placement! (I must be crazy!) And the next few weeks...could be busy! I'm enjoying it though!

I had a safe trip to Manitoba last week. Had lots of fun. Got to spoil my newest niece...such fun! (I love it when hugging and holding and playing count as spoiling. I believe it's the kind I'm best at!)

Yesterday I went shopping with mom. Let's just say I chose to go to the wrong store first, but EVENTUALLY found the dress I'm going to wear to the wedding next weekend.

I could have dressed like a flight attendent. That wasn't the look I'm going for though.

I hope this finds you all well. I should go and spend some time with the parents...they are, in fact, waiting "silently for me."

Best laid plans of mice and men...

Wow

Today hasn't exactly gone to plan, or could you tell?

So far- made it a bit late to school to gather papers for a special form I need, then ended up sitting with none of my friends at the memorial for Steve. To add to that, I ran out, as quickly as I could so I could catch a bus downtown (and therefore not have to worry about parking/cost/one-way streets) and waited over 30 min for a bus that's to come every 10-15min. (Time I would have rather used chatting with classmates)

To top this all off (after getting off at the wrong stop) I find that I filled out the wrong form and now I need to get the ball rolling all over again.

Sigh! At least I have a bit of time to stop here (mid packing) and say hello before I drive off to the airport. (Mmm and there are leftovers from dinner with Chantal last night for lunch).

Look out Alex, Kelly and Little A, here I come!
