Winding Down with Naomi

Hmm...what is this all about, really? It's me jotting down ideas about things that go on in my life, and some occassional pictures of things I've seen and done.

Oh, the fun of driving

I drove home on Monday.

It was a tricky thing- what with the snow storm the day before and all. But the roads were actually in good condition.

What I really felt like blogging about today was the fun Atreyu is having with me lately.

Today he decided that he needed to tell me to clean my windshield. I've never had a car do that before. (A light came on in the dash indicating washing the windshield- then it was gone again). It didn't come back- especially after I had washed my windshield. Dad was in the car too- he thought it was rather amusing.

Not much else new. Or rather- nothing I can think of at the moment.

I've managed to help decorate another couple Christmas trees. I think that brings my total to 3 this year.

Cheers to all!

Christmas greetings.

Hello all!

I thought I'd share some wishes and some photos. (What else!?)

Christmas is a wonderful day to celebrate the birth of the Saviour of the World. We tie a lot of importance to giving at this time of year. I'm so glad that my salvation isn't based on what I give. My gifts aren't amazing, they may not please everyone, they certainly aren't perfect.

In our family we do a draw- maybe this way we, while keeping things in line with budgets, are given the opportunity to give because we want to, not because we're forced to.

The last couple of days have been full of friends and fun. Yesterday I was able to spend a Christmas lunch with Chantal, attend an open house of some great friends from church, and play some scrabble with my wonderful housemates.

Right now, the snow has stopped falling, I think (still blowing though) and I'm to be heading home soon. (Definitely NOT today!) How much snow found it's way to your place during this snow storm?

I'm looking forward to being home. I think everyone is making it home this year! I'm rather excited about that!

God's blessings to you all! I hope your Christmas is Christ centered- the tree reminds us of Christ's birth-with the angel proclaiming his birth, but it also is a reminder of why Jesus came to earth- to die on a tree for the forgiveness of our sins.

Stealth Snow Removal (At it's best!?!)

It's interesting what one sees as one walks from the car to work. (Mind you, it helps if you're walking further than the parking lot across the street!)

Today, the day after a BIG snowfall here, I saw some rather stealthy snow removal action.

First, a man was pushing snow from his driveway to the edge of the ploughed street, about 5 meters from the end of his driveway. No one will notice that extra bit of snow, right?

Next, slightly sneakier, was the man shoveling his interlocking brick driveway. The interesting part was, there was no snowbank visible at the edge of the driveway. How was this possible? Well, I happened to see him as he flipped the snow over a fence dividing his driveway from the neighbour's lawn. Was there a wind around to create such a drift????

Last, but certainly not least. I'm sure you've seen it. It happens in many big cities. The loader- bucket overflowing with snow. The strange bit was it was happily trucking it up a institution's driveway to who knows where?! Not the big dump truck that was sitting on the drive!

What stealth snow removal have you participated in/seen??
